GLENMORANGIE THE QUINTA RUBAN 14 YEAR OLD

The deepest, darkest and most intense whisky in the core range, Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban has spent 10 years maturing in American white oak casks, before being transferred to specially selected Port Pipes from Quintas or other estates in Portugal. “Port Pipes” are the largest type of cask used to mature whisky. With a capacity of around 600 litres, they are close to the maximum legal size for maturing Scotch whisky (700 litres). “Barrique” casks are much less common in Scotland, compared to “Barrel” or “Butt” casks. These are usually used for wine maturation and hold around 225 litres. Glenmorangie released its first Port Pipes in 1994, which was a 1975 vintage.
